The band's latest project Arctic Monkeys At The Apollo features a performance from the Sheffield group that took place in Manchester at the end of their 2007 tour.
Singer Alex Turner said the band are "over the moon" with the film, which was directed by comic actor Richard Ayoade.
Explaining their decision to release a concert movie now, drummer Matt Helders revealed: "It's like D-Ream said: 'Things can only get better.'
"If we'd done it earlier on, we might of thought it was c**p when we looked back on it. It's a milestone to try and get better from. We can get better from watching the DVD."
Bassist Nick O'Malley joked: "Well, there were that whole Blu-ray vs DVD thing and we didn't want to get in the way of that. We waited until that cleared up!
"No, it just felt right, we'd done our second album, we had enough songs, so it seemed like a good time to do it."
At The Apollo, which is shot in super 16mm film, will screen at cinemas around the UK for one night only on October 14. A DVD of the concert is released on November 3.
