Arctic Monkeys At The Apollo, which is released on DVD on November 3, features the Sheffield group playing the final date of their 2007 tour in Manchester.
One-off screenings of the film take place around the UK on October 14.
Speaking about watching the gig back on the big screen, bassist Nick O'Malley said: "It's like when you see a photo of yourself and think, 'I look a bit s**t'."
Frontman Alex Turner admitted that he found it awkward listening to his onstage banter, commenting: "Whenever I watch myself speak... I wish everything I'd said had been a sentence shorter."
The group, who admitted it was the first time they had watched themselves playing live, joked that special effects had been used to make the show more exciting.
"It's all CGI," said O'Malley. "That was the only night that Danny DeVito was available to play Alex. He had to wear a skinny suit for it, but I think he did well."
Drummer Matt Helders commented: "We were aware of the cameras being there but we just put up with it. It was a bit different to doing a normal show, though."
Turner claimed that the band felt comfortable working with director Richard Ayoade, who previously worked on their 'Fluorescent Adolescent' video, but said they are not ready to shoot a fly-on-the-wall documentary about themselves.
