A spokesman for the family said Warwick's health has been failing in recent months, adding that her older sister Dionne was by her side when she passed away on Saturday.
The Grammy Award nominee had hits in the '60s and '70s such as 'Foolish Fool' and 'She Didn't Know (She Kept On Talking)'. Prior to starting a solo career she was a backing vocalist for Aretha Franklin and Wilson Pickett.
Dee Dee most recently sang on sister Dionne's gospel album Why We Sing, which was released in January. She is a cousin of Whitney Houston and started out in the music industry in the 1950s when she and Dionne performed as The Gospelaires.
