The actor, who is releasing an album with band Modern West next month, was convinced to do so after wife Christine heard his work with old group Roving Boy.
"[My wife] heard some of my older music and said: 'Why don't you try it again?'," Costner said. "I kept giving her these excuses, but she kept at it. It wasn't once a week, it wasn't once a month - it was whenever she felt to mention it to build up my confidence.
"She's the reason I'm making music again. And I feel so happy about that."
