The indie rockers are working with producer Nick Launay in Los Angeles, reports NME.
Earlier this year, singer Paul Smith promised fans that the band's new songs would have a "funny groove". He said at the time he hoped to have the new LP out by January or February of 2009.
In a statement, he said of the new offering: "The whole affair is going to be quite stripped down compared to the last album because we don't like to repeat ourselves."
The LP, which is as-yet untitled, follows the 2007 release of Our Earthly Pleasures.
