The singer, who was taken to The London Clinic with a chest infection last week, is attempting to recover from her illness by focusing on her music.
"She's been in hospital for the best part of the week following a chest infection but she's got the tests back and been given the all clear," an insider told Metro.
"She's just decided to take time out and she's been tinkering around in her studio at home. She doesn't have a work schedule or timeline for a comeback but she's put together a few songs and played them to people who have liked them."
The source added: "She's also been spending time learning the drums and doing a lot of drawing and sketching in her own time."
Winehouse's last album Back To Black was released in October 2006.
