The singer said he had been spending lots of time with guitarist Graham Coxon and claimed they were enjoying each other's company again.
"It's very possible I'll go back to Blur, it really is very possible," he told the BBC.
"If the truth be known, Graham and I have been hanging out together a bit. We had lunch the other day.
"He's great, it's fantastic to get my old friend back. So it's good but I can't really say any more than that."
Coxon left Blur in 2002 to pursue a solo career. The rest of the group - Albarn, Alex James and Dave Rowntree - went on to record one further album, 2003's Think Tank.
Bassist James has repeatedly hinted that he would like a reformation, but it was previously believed that Albarn and Coxon were against the idea.
Albarn is currently working on a new Gorillaz LP and the opera Monkey: Journey To The West.
