The New York group announced the news on their MySpace blog, revealing that the "new record is getting closer to being done done done!"
They added that the direction of the new LP is "not much like anything you've heard from us before".
Yeah Yeah Yeahs released first album Fever To Tell in 2003. Second offering Show Your Bones reached the Top 10 in April 2006 and was named second best album of the year by NME.
