Johnny Borrell's band played a seven-song set for fans, who had gathered on the pavement facing the venue.
The show marked the re-opening of The Hawley Arms, which was damaged by a fire in February, and the release of the group's Slipway Fires LP.
During a rendition of their new track 'North London Trash', Borrell climbed on the balcony rails to sing.
"You worry no-one will turn up, but that was great," the frontman told NME. "It was to see to many people, it was really good to get out there and play."
