The Assessment And Qualifications Alliance (AQA) had recommended the convicted paedophile's 1970s hit 'I'm The Leader Of The Gang' as "related listening" for music coursework.
Following complaints about the appropriateness of the decision, the AQA has now recalled the paper and it will be reissued minus Glitter's track, reports The Press Association.
A spokeswoman said: "We regret any offence that has been caused by its inclusion and we will be contacting our centres and recalling the paper."
Glitter, real name Paul Gladd, returned to the UK in August after serving a jail term in Vietnam for abusing two girls.
