Fans of Sir Cliff Richard have reportedly been banned from queuing overnight for tickets to his forthcoming Sheffield date.
Demand is expected to be high for the pop icon's reunion with The Shadows for a 50th Anniversary jaunt around the UK next year. However, health and safety concerns have led staff at the Sheffield Arena to ban fans from camping out for tickets until the day they go on sale.
The Sheffield show is scheduled to take place on Sir Cliff's 69th birthday on October 14. 60-year-old Viv Johnson told The Telegraph that she will fight the ban, having camped out for a fortnight last time he played in the city.
The arena's marketing manager Simon Bailey insisted that he has a duty of care to customers. "We are unable to staff the queue to ensure customer safety and the area isn’t suitable for people to be camping out exposed to the elements," he said.
