Sugababes singer Heidi Range has revealed that she auditioned for eurodance group Scooch.

The popstar, 25, said that she tried out for the pop collective when she was a teenager.

"I went to one audition when I was 14 and pretended I was 16 but they found out and told me I was too young," she told Metro.

"I went home crying but they said they'd keep my details, which amazingly they did, and they asked me to audition for something else when I was 16."

When asked what the audition was for, she replied: "Scooch. I recorded with the same producers, Mike Stock and Matt Aitken, later as a solo artist."

Range was part of the original Atomic Kitten lineup in 1997, but left the band in 1999. She joined Sugababes in 2001 to replace Siobhán Donaghy.

Scooch represented the UK at Eurovision in 2007. Their track 'Flying The Flag (For You)' finished 23rd out of 24 in the contest.
