Adele has insisted that she does not deserve to win a Grammy Award for her work on debut album 19.
The soul singer recently discovered that the disc's lead track 'Chasing Pavements' had been nominated in the Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance categories, while she is also in the running for the Best New Artist prize.
Responding to the news, Adele told BBC 6 Music: "I imagine it's like winning an Oscar and I don't think on this record I should get one. I think it should be with my second or third record that I should get the Oscar, like from your third or fourth film when you're amazing."
She added: "If I won one, it would be really important to me but I can't even think about that. Sorry, it's making my heart race really fast. It would be lovely to get one but I don't feel like I need awards and stuff to feel good about my music."
The nominations for next year's ceremony are dominated by British talent, including Coldplay, Leona Lewis and Duffy.
