The 21-year-old singer admitted that she gets annoyed when the current batch of soul stars are compared to their predecessors.
"Amy, myself, Adele, Lily - we're all very different but we all love 60s soul music and 50s and 70s," Stone told the Daily Star. "But it's not 60s soul music we make today and it never will be. Acts today will never record like those artists did."
She added: "We're nodding our hats and saying thank you to the Dusty Springfields and Gladys Knights. It's a shame people are putting us in the same category 'cos the 15-year-olds who've never taken the time to discover that music won't bother."
The star also revealed that she has made a conscious decision to avoid keeping up with the latest news in the music industry.
"I don't watch TV or listen to the radio or know what's going on in music," she explained. "I have a little projector that I watch DVDs on, lots of Family Guy. That's all you need - the rest is propaganda."
