The 19-year-old former S Club 8 member told the Daily Star that she felt the US five-piece were a better group than hers.
She said: "I didn't want to meet them because I felt really lame and like a really English girlband. We stood in a line after they came off for their soundcheck and I was like: 'This feels a bit like a meet and greet'."
Sandford added that she was nervous about meeting the 'When I Grow Up' group again at this week's Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball.
"I'm scared that when we meet them this week we're going to look like stalkers," she confessed.
