Blur: 'We have officially reunited'

Blur have confirmed that they have officially reunited as a four-piece and will perform live gigs in the new year.

The group confirmed that they will headline a show in Hyde Park, London on Friday, July 3. There are also rumours that the band have agreed to perform at Glastonbury next year.

"We'll do something in London because that seems sensible," lead singer Damon Albarn said, "but we're also playing in other parts of the country working up to there."

Albarn and Graham Coxon told NME that they have rekindled their relationship after a public falling out five years ago that had hindered any reunion talks.

"It just felt it was right again," Albarn told the publication. "It somehow feels like there's something for us to do again, we're not completely useless or pointless, we've got a reason to exist."

Coxon added that the band were "making public what's been going on a little bit privately. For the benefit of the fans and those interested we can say that something's on the cards."

Albarn also recently confirmed that Blur would be working on a new record in the new year. The band have not released new material since 2002's Think Tank.

Tickets for the Hyde Park show are available from 9am on December 12.
