Guitarist Paul Stanley will produce the glam rock outfit's new LP, reports Billboard.
In 2007, Simmons said that the band were not keen on recording new material because of the financial state of the music industry.
"The record industry is in such a mess," he said. "There is nothing in me that wants to go in there and do new music. How are you going to deliver it? How are you going to get paid for it if people can just get it for free?"
The album will feature Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, but it is not known what format it will be released on.
The band are also expected to tour North America in 2009.
