The singer donated 1,000 tickets for his Birmingham NIA gig to raise money for charity.
The tickets, which normally sell for £100, were given to the University Hospital Birmingham Trust, which sold them on for £10 to doctors, nurses and medical staff.
Trust spokesman Andy Comber said the give-away has raised over £10,000 for charity.
"Elton John will have some of the most dedicated fans cheering him when he turns up on stage now because of this," Music News quotes him as saying.
"He is a big giver to charity and wanted to find a way to say thank you to people who support others over Christmas.
"It certainly is good gift to the hospital at Christmas so our staff can go out and enjoy themselves after a year of helping people.
"It also means we will have an extra £10,000 to help us provide the best care to our patients."
Sir Elton will be taking his 'Red Piano' show to London's 02 arena for a special concert on New Year's Eve.
