Supergrass set up own record label

Supergrass have parted ways with EMI's Parlophone Records in order to set up their own label.

The indie group, who follow Radiohead and the Rolling Stones in quitting the firm, said that they have left to ensure that they can think creatively as well as reduce costs.

"We had a pretty good run with Parlophone when we were signed to them, but it's more a case that Parlophone has changed so much over the past year," bassist Mickey Quinn told BBC 6 Music.

"For whatever reason, we both came to the decision that it's probably better if we weren't signed to them anymore."

Quinn added that the first single they have released under the Supergrass Records label, 'Rebel In You', feels more "precious and personal".
