Razorlight's Johnny Borrell has claimed that he is writing songs for Brit Award winner Florence And The Machine.

The frontman said that he had been penning the tracks in private because he didn't want his reputation to tarnish the new indie pop act's image.

"Florence And The Machine are friends of mine," he told the Daily Star.

"I haven't really talked about [writing songs for them] before because the press always get the wrong idea and they're just starting out.

"They've been playing some of the songs in their live set for a while now."

Florence And The Machine were announced as the winners of the 2009 Brit Awards Critics' Choice gong earlier this month. Florence Welch's outfit are also on the January NME Awards Tour alongside White Lies, Friendly Fires and Glasvegas.
