Martin: 'Coldplay ripped off Jeff Buckley'

Chris Martin has revealed that Coldplay borrowed heavily from Jeff Buckley when making their 2000 single 'Shiver'.

The singer described the song, which featured on the band's debut album Parachutes, as a "blatant attempt" to recreate the musician's sound.

"It's a blatant Jeff Buckley attempt," he told the BBC's Chris Moyles Show. "Not quite as good, that's what I think. We were 21 and he was very much a hero, and as with those things it tends to filter through."

Last week it was reported that a campaign has been launched to push Jeff Buckley's version of 'Hallelujah' to the top of the Christmas chart.
