The former Beatle told fans at a signing of the LP, released earlier this month under pseudonym The Fireman, that it was "made up" as they went along.
PA reports him as saying: "We went in with no songs, no words, nothing, and came out later that day with a whole track. It was a buzz to work so fast. We did about 13 tracks in 13 days. There was no time to think, which is kind of nice."
McCartney, who was at HMV's Oxford Street store in London, said he gets a thrill from meeting fans and hearing their stories.
"There's not that many record shops - people buying stuff in record shops - anymore, so it's a bit nostalgic. The main thing is to actually meet the people who buy your records and you get some amazing stories," he said.
