The tour, which kicks off at Sunderland's Stadium of Light on June 6, sold the millionth ticket after further dates were added to the summer shows. The band broke records when 600,000 tickets were snapped up in under five hours.
The news comes after the band's latest album The Circus topped the million sales mark in just three weeks and went on to become the Christmas number one album.
The band are now battling it out with Duffy's Rockferry to score the biggest-selling album of the year.
"They will have to go some to catch and overtake Rockferry and establish The Circus as the biggest-selling album of 2008, but it is not impossible," said The Official Chart Company's Martin Talbot.
"And, at the current rate of sales, who would put it past them? Certainly not me."
