Burke's 'Hallelujah' is top single of 2008

Alexandra Burke's 'Hallelujah' is the biggest-selling single of 2008, the Official Charts Company has announced.

The X Factor champion sold 888,000 copies of the track in just two weeks to top the end of year singles chart.

Burke also sang on the year's second biggest-selling single, 'Hero' by the X Factor finalists, which sold a total of 751,000 copies.

Duffy's 'Mercy' sold 531,000 copies to finish third on the end of year singles chart, while her Rockferry LP was named 2008's biggest-selling album.

Meanwhile, singles by Madonna, Kings of Leon and Katy Perry also feature in the end of year top ten.
