Madonna, Dion top worldwide tours in 2008

Madonna and Celine Dion have been named the biggest worldwide concert draws in 2008, each selling more than $200 million (£138.3 million) worth of tickets.

The singers also topped the list of the highest grossing tours in North America, according to trade publication Pollstar.

Madonna's Sticky and Sweet tour reportedly grossed $281.6 million (£194.8 million) worldwide, of which $105.3 million (£72.8 million) was from North American ticket sales.

Dion's first world tour in over eight years grossed $236.6 million (£163.6 million) worldwide, with North Americans contributing $94 million (£65 million).

The figures do not include revenue made up from merchandise.
