Bob Marley collaborator Vincent Ford has passed away, aged 68.

Ford died in Jamaica after suffering complications in his battle against diabetes, according to the BBC.

The songwriter is credited with Marley's famous 1974 hit 'No Woman, No Cry', which appeared on his Natty Dread LP.

However, some commentators claim that the song was written by Marley and that he only gave Ford the credit to help him financially.

The song is about Trench Town in Kingston, where Marley and Ford grew up in the 1960s.

Ford, who is rumoured to have taught Marley how to play guitar, is also credited on three tracks from the reggae legend's Rastaman Vibration record.
