Organisers of the event - which will take place from April 17 to April 19 in Palm Springs, California - are keen to bring the Damon Albarn-led band to the US ahead of their July shows at London's Hyde Park.
"Coachella is huge and Blur know it'd bring them back with a bang," a source said.
Arctic Monkeys and Amy Winehouse have played sets at Coachella in previous years.
