HMV reveals its music picks for 2009
Published Saturday, Jan 3 2009, 09:04 GMT | By Michael Thornton

The retailer tipped Gary Go and White Lies to have a successful year, alongside solo singer Keri Hilson and rock band The Answer. Other acts picked out include Lady GaGa, Red Light Company and Florence And The Machine.
"There's perhaps not one stand out name that's on everyone's lips, as we saw with Duffy last year, but that's more than made up for by the sheer number and quality of the new acts in the frame," said HMV music buyer Rob Watson.
"There's a bumper crop of fresh faces out there, and 2009 promises to be a vintage year for new music."
HMV previously predicted chart success for Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand and Duffy ahead of their breakthroughs.
