The group's latest LP, which is expected to be released by Columbia later this year, will be the group's first record of original material since 2001's Just Push Play.
Drummer Joey Kramer said in a blog post yesterday: "Today is the first day [bassist] Tom [Hamilton] and I are getting back together.
"We just rehearsed for two hours and it feels so good! We can't wait to get back into the studio and get back out on the road to do what we do best."
Guitarist Brad Whitford admitted last year that the band's comeback record had been held back by various medical problems.
"Like a lot of other things in life, you don't get to call the shots on these things, do you?" he told Billboard. "We're just... getting older."
Frontman Steve Tyler checked into rehab in California last May after becoming addicted to sleeping pills.
