The West London band, who have been tipped to make it big in 2009 by the BBC Sound poll, have said that performing their music can be "draining", but insisted that they all have a good sense of humour.
"It's not always the most uplifting," bassist Charles Cave told the BBC. "It's really important for us to maintain a level of humour on tour.
"Because if we lived through the songs, we'd be basket cases."
On the subject of being one of the most hyped bands of the 2009, Cave commented: "I don't think there really should be lists that predict people's success.
"I think we'd all rather turn up next year and win a bunch of awards for the album that we've made."
White Lies release single 'To Lose My Life' on Monday.
