Kimberley Walsh has revealed that she struggled to cope with the pressure of being in Girls Aloud during her first two years with the group.

The singer confirmed that she felt abandoned after Louis Walsh snubbed his protégés following their victory on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.

"Louis didn't speak to us for the first two weeks we were a band," Kimberley told the Daily Star. "There are only so many times you'll ring before giving up. We worked solely with the record company and basically managed ourselves."

She added: "For the first couple of years it was hard as my phone would be ringing constantly so I found myself totally out of my depth and needed someone to take over."

Girls Aloud's new single 'The Loving Kind' is released on Monday.
