The 15-year-old, who stars as Jenny Humphrey in the US drama, told Teen Vogue that writing music is a "huge passion".
"I'm [a] musician and singer, and I write music. That's a huge passion of mine," she said. "Huge, huge!
"I'm currently working on an album with my band, so I would love to do something with that. That would be the next big thing I'd like to accomplish."
However, the actress assured fans that she has no plans to leave the CW show, saying: "I definitely want to continue doing what I love".
Momsen is not the first Gossip Girl star to launch a music career. Last year, Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf) revealed that she was working on her debut album.
