Franz Ferdinand received complaints about their noisy recording sessions from a home for the deaf, say reports.

The group used a "crumbling former town hall" in Glasgow to write and play songs from their new Tonight: Franz Ferdinand LP, but annoyed neighbours with their loud practices.

"There was a complaint from the nearby home for the deaf after the first session," a source told the Daily Record. "But after they blocked the windows with fibreglass and rockwall nobody knew they were there.

"Perhaps it was the vibrations that disturbed them."

The indie band chose the Victorian building for their third album because it had the "right vibe" and it cost half the daily rent of a London studio, according to guitarist Nick McCarthy.

Tonight: Franz Ferdinand is released on January 26.
