Lady GaGa: 'Respect me in my own right'

The US singer complained about being compared to other female singers like Madonna.
"It’s not a bad comparison but I want to be respected as an artist in my own right," she told The Sun.
"Bowie, Prince and Grace Jones were all famous for their style and fashion, so I think it’s a tradition popstars should maintain."
The star, who has spent two weeks at number one with her debut single 'Just Dance', added that women are the dominant force in pop music.
"When John Lennon was talking about Yoko Ono he used to say that women possessed a wisdom that no man could have.
"At certain points in history women always rise. Pop is historically a female sport and women are winning all the gold medals at the moment."
Lady GaGa released her album The Fame on January 12.
