Speaking to BBC 6Music, Moretti disclosed that lead singer Julian Cassablancas and bass player Nick Valensi have been putting together new material for the forthcoming LP.
He said: "Julian has started writing and Nick has got some material as well. We're the kind of band that it's not finished until everyone's in one room and everyone's got their parts perfectly. We're a very mechanical band."
When pressed to give an estimated time of arrival for the album, Moretti said: "It might be in a couple of months, it might be in a year."
The Strokes's last album First Impressions Of Earth was released in 2006.
