Her track 'My Life Would Suck Without You' rockets from 97 to the top spot this week - the largest leap to number one in Billboard Hot 100 history.
It becomes Clarkson's second US chart-topper after 'A Moment Like This', her American Idol victory song from 2002.
Lady GaGa's 'Just Dance' falls to two after three weeks at number one, while Beyoncé's 'Single Ladies' slips to three.
Aside from Clarkson, the only new track in the top ten comes from The Fray, who climb from 16 to eight with 'You Found Me'.
Outside of the top ten, Pink jumps from 20 to 16 with 'Sober', while U2 debut at 37 with 'Get On Your Boots'.
