Hydro Connect postponed over credit crunch

Organisers behind the Hydro Connect Festival have announced that it will not take place this year because of the credit crunch.

The festival has run for the past two years in the grounds of Inveraray Castle, Argyll, hosting acts such as the Manic Street Preachers, Franz Ferdinand and Glasvegas.

Boss Geoff Ellis told NME that it will return in 2010, explaining that staging the event in Argyll brings with it "very high infrastructure and servicing costs".

The festival will run a number of "small scale" events instead.
