It was the first time she had performed in public since the murder of her mother, brother and nephew last year.
The Dreamgirls star sang before the game kicked off then returned to her dressing room and asked pre-game show producer Rickey Minor if her performance was alright.
Speaking to The AP, Minor said: "I told her 'Touchdown!'
"This was such an important performance, because it's the first time everyone has seen Jennifer. But she's in such a great place, with such great spirits and time can heal her wounds."
He added that the singer-actress was "on fire" as well as being "totally grounded".
Half-time at this year's event featured a performance from Bruce Springsteen, who played a four-song set with his band.
