Hudson lip-synced Super Bowl anthem

Jennifer Hudson sang the National Anthem to a pre-recorded track at the weekend's Super Bowl on the advice of the show's producer.

The event marked the Dreamgirls star's first public performance since the deaths of her mother, brother and nephew last year.

Show producer Ricky Minor insisted that both Hudson and Faith Hill, who sang before her, use the backup tracks the National Football League requires them to submit a week earlier.

He told The AP: "That's the right way to do it. There's too many variables to go live. I would never recommend any artist go live, because the slightest glitch would devastate the performance."
