M.I.A. to play at Grammys event

M.I.A. has been confirmed as a last-minute addition to the lineup for the 51st Grammy Awards this weekend - despite the event taking place on her due date.

The singer has joined other new names Neil Diamond, BB King, John Mayer, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson to play at the ceremony.

She had previously claimed on her MySpace blog that it was unlikely she would attend the ceremony, writing: "Baby + Grammy... is due on the same day!"

M.I.A. has been nominated for record of the year for her 'Paper Planes' single.
