McClure, who is currently promoting his side-project Mongrel, claimed that the nu-rave band's award winning Myths Of The Near Future is "cynical".
"It's synth music by people who don't know how to play synths properly," he told Teletext. "I read where they said they wanted to revive a genre that hadn't been re-done yet, so they chose rave.
"How cynical! That's not music from the heart."
Meanwhile, the frontman said that he is optimistic that the current financial climate can increase artistic creativity, but claimed that he is not confident the music press will pick up on the new acts.
"I think the recession could finally see some amazing music break through, same as The Specials did under Thatcher," he said. "Mind you, those clowns at the NME will probably ignore it and herald Joe Lean [and The Jing Jang Jong] as our saviour instead."
