The bookmakers made the decision after a number of bets of around £50 were placed at William Hill branches on Paul Weller to win the award for best British solo male artist.
A Brits spokesperson said: "Every precaution is taken to keep results under lock and key."
Weller's odds were consequently cut from 5/1 to 1/5 favourite, The Daily Telegraph reports.
Weller is up against James Morrison, The Streets, Will Young and former Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown.
Punters can still place bets on the best single category, which is voted for by the public.
Last month, Weller announced a number of summer concerts to take place in forests across the UK in support of his 22 Dreams LP.
