Charlatans curate stage at Isle of Wight

The Charlatans have been announced as the curators of the Big Top at the Isle of Wight festival and will pick the bands that will play on the stage.

As co-headliners of the stage, the group will have "complete control" of who plays before them, organisers claim.

Lead singer Tim Burgess said: "I have already approached quite a few impressive new bands - some you will know, some you might not.

"The Isle Of Wight festival is a special festival to me, so all up and coming bands, be on the look out - you could be taking the stage."

Last month, the first acts were announced for the event, including The Prodigy, Pendulum and Basement Jaxx.
