Coldplay 'had best selling LP of 2008'

According to figures from the IFPI, the LP sold 6.8 million copies last year.
The album also achieved more downloads than any other in digital history in the first month after its release.
Black Ice from AC/DC was second in the rankings, while Amy Winehouse's Back To Black was seventh, even though it was first released in October 2006.
The biggest selling new artist was Duffy with her debut album Rockferry. The record was fourth in the international rankings and the best selling album in the UK.
Earlier this month, Coldplay won the Grammy Award for best rock album for their fourth studio effort.
