The former Smiths frontman told Xfm that it is unlikely that he will still be singing in five years' time.
When the singer - who turns 50 in May - was asked if he would continue singing as a 55 or 60-year-old, he replied: "I think it's incredibly slim. For Heaven's sake! Really?
"It's very interesting that it's very hard to think of anybody who ages and still manages to mean anything."
He added that most stars "lose it" because they accomplish everything they set out to achieve in their artistic and personal life.
Last week, Morrissey confirmed that he is not interested in reforming The Smiths.
