Singer Florence Welch said that she is friends with the 20-year-old Londoner, but argued that working together would not be a good idea musically.
"Collaborations terrify me," Welch told the Daily Star. "I've known Adele a while and she's got an incredible voice but we're probably too different.
"I don't think our voices would work. I bark too much."
She added: "The closest we came to singing together was at our first pub gig when I shared the bill with her and Kate Nash. That turned out to be quite a lineup."
Florence & The Machine will be awarded the second Brits Critics' Choice gong at the Earl's Court ceremony later today.
