The U2 frontman claimed that he sees his own band as contemporaries of bands like Coldplay, Interpol, Kings of Leon and the girl group, The Sun reports.
Bono said: "Seriously, I think Girls Aloud are at the cutting edge of pop music. They are a great band and deserve to be centre stage.
"They have everything a pop band should have - songs, the look, it's all there."
U2 played new single 'Get On Your Boots' at last night's Brit Awards ceremony, while Girls Aloud played award-winning single 'The Promise'.
