Within moments of either performing or winning a gong, download sales for the victors far outperformed the rest of the market, according to data released by the Official Charts Company.
Duffy, who picked up three awards last night, saw a four-fold increase in sales of her debut album Rockferry. Her singles 'Warwick Avenue', 'Mercy', 'Rain On Your Parade' and 'Live And Let Die' all sold double the market average.
The Ting Tings, who performed with Estelle at the ceremony, sold three times the average of their LP We Started Nothing. Meanwhile, Estelle's number one 'American Boy' almost doubled its usual sales.
"In this digital age, fans can hear music on the TV or radio and instantly satisfy their need to own the track or album by downloading it there and then," said Mark Talbot of the Official Charts Company.
"These figures indicate that a show like the Brits can have an immediate impact on sales - an impact which we expect to see rolling through the rest of this week, as CD sales are also boosted by the Brit artists' media profile and in-store retail campaigns."
Other acts seeing sales spurts included Elbow and Coldplay, who shifted triple and double their average album sales respectively.
