Guitarist Matthew Followill told BBC 6 Music that the LP will have a "grungier" sound than the group's earlier work.
Speaking after winning the gongs for best international album and best international group at this week's Brit Awards, bassist Jared Farrowill added that he cannot wait for their fifth record to be released.
"The next album that we make, that we're already working on, I can assure you, is one that I'm the most excited about," he said.
"We haven't really got down to lyrics yet but [we have] a lot of good stuff. It's cool."
