The Rascals frontman Miles Kane has revealed that the band are hoping to achieve their first number one single this year.

The singer also vowed that the follow-up to their debut album Rascalize will put a stop to the current domination of pop in the charts.

"What is going on at the moment is all so predictable," Kane told the Daily Star. "We're gonna stir it up."

"We don't want to make the second Rascals album too safe," he continued. "We are working with some big names and it is going to be special. It is going to be full of big f**k off singles. We want to be No.1. It's all gone a bit soft so we are coming back to change that."

Kane promised to record a new Last Shadow Puppets album with Alex Turner last month.
